6 Reasons authors write books!

Now I know!

When I was a boy, I though as a boy, but now as a grown up and an author, I now know why authors write the books they write.

Authors don’t just write books for the sake of writing. We write books when we have;

i) a message for the world,

ii) a secret and or

III) an experience,

iv) a revelation,

v) a gift to impart, and

Vi) a truth to document and to share.

The above listed are the reasons why I wrote my book, “21 POWERFUL SECRETS OF FAITH”.

In this book, I also exposed 7 reasons why people ask but do not receive.  In addition, I provided the solution to these barriers to receiving by sharing with you 9 steps to receive answers to your prayers.

Be prepared for the following when you read my book and adopt and practice these secrets of faith and 9 ways to pray and receive answers;

i) It will change your prayers!

ii) It will increase your faith in God.

iii) It will improve your relationship with God.

iv) It will help you discover the fun in walking by faith, not by the physical sight.

v) You will receive answers to your prayers!

I must say that, I got these secrets by a closer, covenant walk with God. Indeed, He reveals His covenant and secrets to all those who fear and love Him deeply.

Watch out for the launch details!

I value your comments, questions and feedbacks. Let me hear from you this moment. What do you think and feel about my book?

Why another book on faith?

Yesterday, I shared with you the table of content of my book, “21 Powerful Secrets of Faith’

Today, I want to answer the question, Why another book on faith when there are many already?

Many have spoken and written on faith but too many have actually narrowed the meaning, the requirements and the effects of what it means to believe in God to the detriment of the believer and the church as a whole. But I want to demonstrate what many have not discerned and may never discover in their walk with God.

I write on faith because the Lord Jesus has given me the gift of faith and specifically and graphically described it to me as stubborn faith. And He added that our relationship is based on something more than a promise; it is based on a covenant.

So, I write on faith  based on insight and revelation resulting from close love relationship with Christ, not on theories and abstract concepts. When a man of faith, even stubborn faith writes on faith, it is a must read for every believer and unbelievers alike. It will help even the atheist, agnostic and humanist.

Friends, stay tuned for something powerful next time.

Albert Etornam Dogbe.

What extraordinary faith did the disciples have?

index faith111

Do you believe God in the morning but in the evening you doubt Him?

Do you always or sometimes believe God and His promise to you?

Do you believe God today and tomorrow you don’t?

Well, whatever your answers are in your heart to all or some of these questions, this is what God wants you to know today about your trust in Him; your faith in God must be a permanent lifestyle, not a fluctuating way of life, not a part time commitment! Walking by faith is a fulltime, lifelong enrolment.

Whatever you lack or desire, ask the Lord who gives liberally, generously beyond what you ask, or think or desire and you shall receive (James 1:5). God has more than enough of whatever any one will dare to ask Him. He does not lack anything; be it wisdom, riches, healing, power, honour, fame, promotion, blessing etc.

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed”  (James 1:6). It’s only with faith that you can download the riches and blessings in the warehouse of God. Establish your faith in God, ‘permanize’ it (make it permanent), cast it in stone, not on the beach sand which is washed away by the waves in seconds. Do not waver in your trust on the ability and abundance of God; shun every uncertainty about His willingness to give you.

“For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord” (James 1:7). Which man? The man with the wavering, fluctuating, part time faith. A doubting man never pleases God, in fact our doubts in God provokes God’s anger against us.

When the unbelieving Israelites provoked God by their wavering faith, God spoke these  dreadful words; “So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest”  (Hebrews 3:11) And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?  (Hebrews 3:18).

Let us avoid every double-mindedness; believing for a time and not believing for another time. Believing in the morning and doubting in the evening. Believing God’s ability and willingness today and doubting Him tomorrow. Believing and doubting God is double-mindedness, it demonstrates instability. This is how the Disciple James captures this truth, “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways” (James 1:8).

When you permanently believe in God no matter what, you speak like this, “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up” (Daniel 3:17-18).

Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego are still heroes today after thousands of years have passed when they demonstrated that unwavering and permanent faith in God. And the faith of the Disciples of Christ could not be stampeded or quenched by the Romans, Pharisees, Scribes and teachers of the law and all the threats and actual atrocities against them. Their faith lasted till they received what they believed and the mission of establishing the church was accomplished. They all died holding onto what they believed; the resurrected Jesus in Whom there is salvation for all!  And this is one of their rewards that wherever faith is preached, their example is worthy of mention. Do not forget that the three Hebrew boys instantly received what they believed God for i.e. their God, our God, saved them from the fiery furnace alleluia! Indeed, receiving is the end of believing. Receiving is the outcome of faith. “Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:9).

One insight the Holy Ghost gave me about faith is that the believe in your heart must be unanimously and always manifested by your tongue, your heart and your mind; none should contradict the other.

When the Lord Jesus called me to “Disciple Him and make Him Disciples”, He gave me many gifts and one of them is (He called it) ‘stubborn faith“. It simply means stubborn faith, I cannot explain it more. Do you too not need this kind of faith? you know what to do (James 1:5).

This was the kind of faith that all the Disciples of Jesus Christ demonstrated after their Master ascended to heaven and left them with the charge to make disciples of all nations and establish the church everywhere. And a permanent subscription to believe God no matter what, was what got the church established in the face of the fiercest opposition one can imagine.

I challenge you to let your faith in God be your permanent way of life then you too can achieve what the Disciples of Jesus Christ and the other generals of faith throughout history accomplished.

Why Only God’s Timing is Perfect!

Clock timing

I believe we are all familiar with the statement that “God’s time is the best” but not many truly appreciate the wisdom in it. Perhaps we have lost its meaning.

Today we all struggle to meet our own deadlines in the areas of marriage, business, education, employment, promotion, childbirth, breakthrough etc.

Recently, a fellow servant of God shared with me the testimony of a 45 year old woman in Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra, Ghana who got married earlier this year and got pregnant. These became breaking news in and around the community and everyone (Christians and non Christians) are all virtually saying “it’s the doing of the Lord and its marvellous in our eyes” Hurray!

What if this lady had gotten married at age 24 or 25 and started bearing children, it clearly would have been a normal occurrence and not have attracted any attention and special praise to God.

Therefore the mileage of praise, thankfulness and glory it generated and the lifting up of the faith of the inhabitants and all who hear it is overwhelming. Indeed, there is no better timing than God’s timing. His glory matters to Him above our selfish conveniences.

This is the message the Lord gave me for today John 9: 1-3. The disciples asked why the man was born blind. Was it due to his own sins (before he was born blind) or was it due to the sins of his parents? Jesus said in vs. 3 that neither of those reasons were correct, rather,

“that the works of God should be made manifest in his life”

This means that God made him blind from birth with the sole aim of affording God to bag some glory and praise and increase the faith of onlookers when the power of God heals this blind man one day.

And it happened from vs. 6&7 Jesus did that amazing miracle with his saliva mixed with sand applied to the eyes and asked the man to wash. He did wash and got healed!

As God purposed it way back before the man was born, the power of God manifested in this man’s life and God got huge glory and praise. This was after the scepticism and denial and questioning by the Pharisees of Jesus’ authority and genuineness.

But in all, the point was clearly made that the power of God had healed the popular blind beggar that everyone knew in the city as he had been around for long and he was then a man, not a boy. He has grown in the begging business.

Consider these questions;

  1. Could it be that you have not yet received that answered prayer, say in the area of your health, marriage, business, financials, ministry because it is not yet God’s appointed time?
  2. Could it be if this particular request was granted at your time, God would have missed out on the mileage of glory and praise He has planned for Himself?
  3. Could it be that if God gives you the financial success you are asking for according to your timing, it would draw you away from God? And He would lose out on the profit/glory on you? Think about it.

Man’s timing is based on very limited factors, our personal convenience which is often powered by selfishness, and peer pressure i.e. to meet social acceptance. If we don’t wean ourselves of depending on and enforcing our own timing for God, disappointments, frustrations, heartbreaks and eventually giving up on our faith is inevitable. God’s timing is perfect, it takes care of the immediate, medium, long and very long term factors including those factors we cannot see. Above all, it takes care of the ultimate i.e. God’s glory and praise which He will not bargain and or share with anyone!

To conclude, I urge you to also align yourself to God’s timing; because it builds our patience, endurance, prayer life and faith. An additional benefit of learning to go along with the Master’s clock is that it makes you avoid stress and depression and anxiety with their attendant health problems. It also gives you a good sleep as you trust that the Lord will give you His best deal. God’s time is indeed the only perfect time. Let this wisdom disperse your stress and depression today and on a continuous basis for a better and victorious Christian life.

Scripture reading John 9 vs. 1-41

45 minutes of 2015 is over; this is what to do in the 2nd half.

shift gear

All too soon, the 1st half of 2015 is coming to a close in about 6 hours. Like a football match, every spectator has his own opinions. To some, it has been bad; others say it’s been good, very good, and exceptionally good. I am one person who has exceeded all my milestones except in one thing. Interestingly, this one thing is an area that the Lord has personally given me great promises. He will do it!

Until you count your blessings and pen them one by one, you may doubt what the Lord has done for you this first half. Whatever our views are, one thing is sure, God has been faithful in preserving our lives which no man can do. No man can guarantee life to another. The President of my country Ghana,  President John Dramani Mahama cannot guarantee life to me for a minute and so does your president, without a doubt.

I wonder what those of us alive today have done better than those who are dead if not for the mercy and love of God which has found us. In Ghana, we painfully lost over 150 souls in the 2nd June 2015 flood and fire disaster at the oil filling station. Could it have been me or any of us who are alive in Ghana today?

One good news is that,  I have not heard news of any man anywhere in the world having to eat stones because God had failed to provide for him or her.

In my meditation this morning, the Lord told me many things but I will share two with you. He told me;

1.“ say you to the righteous, that it is well with him

2. “ Engage a higher gear of prayer and faith

Once you still look up to Him, it does not matter where you are in the world, He says it is well with you.

As an experienced driver, I shift to a stronger gear when I am approaching a hill or mountain or difficult terrain and I realize I cannot continue with the same speed or gear. What does God mean here? The second half of this match (2015) will involve some hills and mountains, and floods for many, He therefore commands us to shift to a higher gear of prayer and faith in Him.

He will do all He promises to do this year. Unless you disappoint yourself, by failing in hope,  God will not disappoint you. Keep hope alive and active.

For me, I am moving into a higher gear of prayer and trust in Him, starting from midnight tonight when I wake up to command the second half of the year 2015 as my custom is every last day of each month.

Have an effectual, fervent, prayer-filled, and faith-filled 2nd half. The harvest is ripe for you.
