This scripture is the Lord’s personalized answer to specific questions that I put to Him on Monday 23rd May 2016 which He answered me after a few hours. He said,
“And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him” (Mark 15:19) KJV
Did they not bit my Lord, Saviour and Master with a bunch of reed (plant) and even spat upon him? Did sinners not insult and mocked Him. Did they (captives of sin) not judge my Lord and declared the guiltless guilty and killed Him? But in all that they bowed their knees and worshipped Him? Why because He is Lord and He’s given the honour from above to be worshipped (Matthew 28:18).
And did not each of His Disciples in the first century went through the same experience of beating and torture and finally murdered (except John)? And it was not different with any of His Disciples throughout the ages? And of a truth, it shall not be different with us His Disciples even this day in this 21st cent:ury? We are killed all day long for Christ. Like Paul, I die everyday for Christ (Romans 8:36).
Despite all that, Jesus reigns as Lord and is and shall be worshipped by all. At the end of it all, the sinner, the world, the atheist and his friends; agnostics, humanists, skeptics shall discover Him as the Lord and shall worship Him. This statement has gone out from the mouth of Jehovah God Almighty and no one can stop it! It shall not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11).
3 Confirmations that this is happening already and it shall happen fully;
One, Jehovah God says, “I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear” (Isaiah 45:23).
Two, “Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him” (Psalm 72:11).
And three, this is written about His Son Jesus Christ, my Master; “As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (Rom 14:11).
Therefore as it was with our Master Jesus Christ, so shall it be with us His Disciples. After the beatings and the spitting, special honour awaits us from the Father (John 12:26). And these very ones will have no choice but bow to us in honour to the One who sent us. Those who despise us because we insist on faithfully representing the Lord and pleasing Him alone, not pleasing men and public opinion will admire and bless us and we will bless them in return, and it shall be effective in their lives.
It is now time to say that to effectively represent Jesus Christ,
do not run away from any of the experiences and treatments (nice or ugly) that He went through; the beatings, spitting, insult, fastings, mockery, good works of miracles, preaching, teaching, healings, riding on the donkey, the arrest by unjust men, the crucifixion and killing, and the resurrection. All these make up the Christ’s story and Christ’s way of life.
I share with you this local proverb which one of my brothers, Joseph quotes so often;
“if you want to be the spokesman for the squirrel, you must be prepared to dwell on the palm tree“.
I end with this wise saying from me, a 21st Century Disciple of Jesus Christ;
“If the apprentice refuses or misses out on the knowledge and experiences of his Master, he cannot be an effective ambassador of his Master. We Disciples have our share of the experiences and treatments meted out to our Master Jesus; and these make us able ambassadors of Him, no easier route”
But who is a Disciple of Jesus Christ? you know this b now if you have been following my series on discipleship. But for the sake of emphasis:
They are people in the closest innermost circles with Jesus Christ. They love Him more than they love even themselves (Luke 14:26).
Are you a Disciple of Christ? Does HE know you as one of His Disciples and bound by covenant? Since the first century, the Lord has been calling for disciples, not just church members. Hence He commanded us to make disciples for Him in all nations. Don’t just go to church; get into the closest innermost circles with Him. How? Go with all your heart, mind, soul, strength, hands, feet, and esophagus (Mark 12:30) and love Him more than you love any other, even your own life.
The Disciples call Jesus, Master. And the apprentice goes through what his master went through so he can become like his master. This is how to become an effective ambassador of Jesus Christ.
